How to Wrap a Car With a Heat Gun

Apr 27, 2023 38 1

cool car wraps

Now more and more people want to be able to transform their own cars. Alukovinyl's cool car wraps are the best car vinyl wrap to choose. So the problem is, you need to use a heat gun to stick the cool car wraps. Wrapping a car with a heat gun requires precision, patience, and attention to detail. When you use the cool car wraps, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Using a fingernail, or a thin plastic scraper, tease off the edges of the vinyl wrap from the car panel(s).
  2. Grab your heat gun and set it to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This is most easily achieved with a digital hot air machine, as it allows you to select specific temperatures. Ideally, use a fishtail nozzle to ensure even heat distribution over a wide area. Alternatively, you can purchase industry-standard, two-inch nozzles separately.
  3. Begin to warm the car wrap with the heat gun, using side-to-side movements, covering an area of around 6-8 inches.
  4. Using your fingers, start to pull the film away from the bodywork, at an angle of 20 degrees. Should it become difficult to remove, reheat again.
  5. Once you’ve taken off all the car vinyl from the panel, it’s time to eliminate any residual adhesive. Crank up your heat gun to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and begin to warm the glue. As it softens, remove it with a plastic scraper.
  6. Should there be any adhesive that’s impervious to your hot air machine, gently rub it with some isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

This is NOT how to apply wrap, it's just the opposite.
